THE MOST EXTENSIVE VINEYARD IN THE REGION OF THE SALNÉS

A vineyard patrimony bounded to the history of Pazo de Rubianes.

The vineyard is in the land of Pazo de Rubianes since its origins. In the lagar of the cellar of the XV Century, the grapes were squeezed and pressed to initiate later the fully artesanal elaboration of the wines.

After the phylloxera, the vineyard was vanishing little by little of the land, until the eighteenth Lord of the house of the Rubianes, Don Gonzalo Ozores de Urcola, in the ninety decade of the past century, recovered the old land vineyard with the 6 hectares plantation, which in few years led to the 25 actual hectares.

The neighbours of Rubianes have a popular saying when they refer to the Pazo de Rubianes vineyard: “Ós viñedos do Marqués dalle o sol ata de noite” (The vineyards of the Marquis get sunbath even in the night).
